What is high hips vs low hips?

High hips refer to the location of the iliac crest, which is the bony ridge at the top of the pelvis. If the iliac crests are relatively high on the body, this can create the illusion of a narrow waist and wider hips, giving a so-called "hourglass" figure. Low hips, on the other hand, occur when the iliac crest is positioned lower on the body, creating a less pronounced curve between the waist and hips. The shape and positioning of the pelvis is largely determined by genetics and cannot be changed through exercise alone.
